MORE ABOUT LEEROY

Raised in Victoria B.C., Leeroy Stagger worked in several local bands until gaining commercial success with his album “Dear Love” in 2004. Stagger has garnered an international fan base through relentless touring both home and abroad. His touring history alone is an impressive read with The Pixies, Steve Earle, Ron Sexsmith and Joe Plaskett, to name a few.

Throughout his career his music has received placements in Greys Anatomy, Sons of Anarchy, Degrassi, and Heartland. In 2013, Stagger was nominated for WCMA “Roots Solo Recording of the Year” for his album Radiant Land. Succeeding this, in 2014 Leeroy won the “Pros & Prose” Award at the Calgary Folk Music Festival. This past year Leeroy won the Peak Performance Project in Alberta, a Western Canadian contest that includes 12 bands who go through an intense music boot camp.

2015 also documented the release of his tenth album that happens to be his most brutally honest and critically acclaimed record to date, “Dream It All Away”. It is an emotional road trip for Leeroy; within the album there is a quest for revealing and understanding truths while simply trying to make it out unscathed. This was produced by long-time bandmate Russell Broom (Sam Roberts, Julian Lennon) and was released in Canada by Rebeltone Records and in Europe through Blue Rose Records.

2016 is a big year for Leeroy, as he is commencing his sixth UK tour and releasing a new record that is expected early next year. The album is being produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer and Dan Mangan) with musicians Paul Rigby (Neko Case), Geoff Hilhorst (Deep Dark Woods) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello). Stagger is well on his way to joining the likes of John Hiatt, Ryan Adams and John Prine as an ambassador for North American roots rock ‘n’ roll.

“There has always been a swagger about Stagger, a slightly cocky self-confidence that’s actually quite endearingand there’s an open and honest feel to his unaffected voice. This is arguably his best work yet.”
– Exclaim (Radiant Land)

“There are few people you feel you get to know through their music more than Stagger.”
